The
castle of Titignano was built by Farolf of the Montemarte on 937 B.C.The
Montemarte Family of French origins came to Italy after the arrival of
Ludovico II, king of France. The ancient building was contended for a
long period between Orvieto ( Guelf) and Todi ( Ghibelline). Between XVI
and XVII Century it became a big Palace
with a small village ( the court). In 1830 Prince Don Tommaso di Filippo
Corsini from Florence bought it at an auction from Pontifical State that
confiscated the estate from the powerful Montemarte family. The
current
heir is Marchesa Nerina Corsini Incisa della Rocchetta. She
is the owner of many estates that make a big farmhouse: Titignano along
with the farms of Salviano and Vaglia.
